WNYC's Azi Paybarah on THE PEREZ NOTES


I had the opportunity to interview WNYC Reporter Azi Paybarah. We discussed Cathie Black and the fight to make her School's Chancellor, and who is winning the public opinion battle. We also discussed Governor elect Cuomo's transition, and his public battle with Steve Rattner, and we also touched on national, city and state politics. Azi also talked about the WNYC blog THE EMPIRE, and reporting in general.

I had the opportunity to interview Chung-Wha Hong, who is the Executive Director of the New York Immigration Coalition. Topics of discussion were, the outcome of the elections, and the impact the results had on comprehensive immigration reform. The positions of Governor elect Cuomo and Attorney General elect Schneiderman in regards to immigrants, and their past record on the issues. We also discussed school Chancellor Joel Klein's record and the debate between public, and charter schools. Chung-Wha also touched on the Obama administration's record on immigrant issues.

I had the opportunity to interview El Diario La Prensa's Catalina Jaramillo. We discussed the election results, and how the outcome affects the Latino community and immigration reform. We also touched on Governor elect Cuomo and some of his position's on the issues that are important to Latinos, and the role that Latino media outlets play in elections.

Michael Oliva on THE PEREZ NOTES


I had the opportunity to interview political consultant Michael Oliva. We discussed the election results on a statewide, citywide and national level. Topics of discussion ranged from, the implications of the new Republican majority in the congress, to how Governor elect Cuomo handles the dysfunction in Albany. We also discussed his work as the Director of the Metro Theater Project.
