Doug Biviano on THE PEREZ NOTES

I had the opportunity to interview Doug Biviano, who is running for the New York State Assembly in the 52ND AD. The seat is currently held by Assemblywoman Joan Millman. Topics of discussion were the MTA's bus routes cuts in the district, education, park land, senior services, and development. We also discussed the late budget, and ways in which government can be reformed.

Nelson Castro on THE PEREZ NOTES

I had the opportunity to interview Assemblyman Nelson Castro, who is facing a challenge this year from District Leader Hector Ramirez. Topics of discussion were his relationship with the Bronx Democratic party leadership, his legislative track record, his fund-raising numbers, and allegations made against him in the press. We also discussed the Kings-bridge armory, unemployment, and housing.

Steve Behar on THE PEREZ NOTES

I had the opportunity to interview Steve Behar, who is running for the New York State Assembly in the 26Th AD. The seat is currently held by Assemblywoman Ann Margaret Carrozza. Topics of discussion were the dysfunction in Albany, fund raising, education, senior services, and the 200,000 dollars Steve was offered by pro-charter school bundlers. We also touched on his background as an Attorney, and his opponents in the race.

John A. Messer on THE PEREZ NOTES

I had the opportunity to interview John Messer, who is running for the New York State Senate in the 16Th SD. The seat is currently held by State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky. We discussed the state's budget deficit, senior services, non partisan redistricting, education, and what qualifies John to be the State Senator for the 16Th SD.

Fernando Tirado on THE PEREZ NOTES

I had the opportunity to interview Fernando Tirado, who is running for the New York State Senate in the 33rd SD. The seat is currently held by State Senator Pedro Espada. Topics of discussion were, the Kings bridge Armory, unemployment, progressive taxation, education, affordable housing, and the needs of small business owners. We also discussed his work as the District Manager for the area.

Reshma Saujani on THE PEREZ NOTES

I had the opportunity to interview Reshma Saujani, who is running for Congress in the 14Th CD. The seat is currently held by Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney. Topics of discussion were immigration reform, financial reform, appropriations throughout the district and Reshma's efforts to reach out to the different ethnic groups in the community. We also discussed unemployment, the environment, and Congresswoman Maloney's voting record.

I had the opportunity to interview Assemblyman Adam Clayton Powell, who is running for congress in the 15Th CD. The seat is currently held by Congressman Charles Rangel. Topics of discussion were education, housing, immigration reform, the environment, and unemployment. Assemblyman Powell also discussed his record in elected office, as a member of the New York City Council, and the New York State Assembly.
